Palmieri, David D., ‘Davey,’ 82, Archbald, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife of 45 years was the former Sandra Lee Pardoe, who passed away in 2008.
Born Monday, February 5, 1934 in Archbald, he was a son of the late Americo ‘Jake’ and Mary Lori Palmieri. Davey loved hunting and trapshooting, and by all accounts, was very good at both. He belonged to the Factoryville, Mill City, and Moscow Sportsman’s Clubs, and the Hricak-McAndrew American Legion, post #869. The highlights of his day were having breakfast at Wayne’s in Jermyn, where, the waitresses were very kind to him, and his daily visits to the American Legion. Even with his disabilities and struggles the last few years since Sandy passed, he could be seen on his crutches going down Main Street to the American Legion. He was a big man, with a big voice, and a heart to match.
He is survived by his sisters Joyce Willchock, Appalachin, N.Y., and Carol Palmieri, Archbald, and his brother John ‘Jake’ Palmieri, Mill City; and many nieces, nephews, a great nephew, cousins, sisters-in-law, and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St Thomas Aquinas Church, 429 Church St, Archbald. Interment to follow at the Italian Congregation of St Francis d’Assisi Cemetery, Eynon.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at the Louis J Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St., Archbald.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA. 18510, or Street Cats and Dogs Inc., 1900 East Gibson Street, Scranton, Pa. 18510.
