Terrence Gerek Obituary

Terrence L. Gerek, 66, of Factoryville, formerly of Peckville, passed away peacefully at Allied Hospice Center, Wilkes Barre on Friday, March 1.  He was the loving husband to Susan Armondi.  They were married for over 28 joyous years.

Terry was the son of the late, Edward and Vera Chaykovsky Gerek.  A graduate of Valley View High School, Class of 1975 and he received his BS at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences.  Having worked in his family textile business provided a significant opportunity to demonstrate his valuable knowledge, skill and experience with fibers.   He was hired as a Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Print Operations for ICF Mercantile, Warren NJ.  He enjoyed working at ICF till he recently retired.  He was admired by all who worked with him.  He treasured the outdoors and took pleasure in golfing, fishing, harness racing and in his younger years would participate in motocross racing at Unadilla.  However, Terry and his wife, Sue, occasionally treated themselves in vacationing to the Caribbean.

In addition to his wife, Sue, he is survived by his sister, Gail Hammond, Whitehouse Station, NJ and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his 2 brothers, Glenn who died in 2012 and Edward on January 14, 2023.

A special appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and to Allied Hospice staff for giving Terry dignified and affectionate health care.

Per Terry’s wishes, there will be no calling hours but rather, invites family and friends to a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Fiorelli Catering, 1501 Main St. Peckville on Sunday, March 10th from 1 to 3 P.M.   Donations may be made in Terry’s name to Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, 334 Jefferson Ave. Scranton, Pa 18510.
