Sharon Fairburn, RN, 66, of Archbald, entered into eternal rest on December 12 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville after a sudden illness. Born on January 20, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lois Eidinger Lapka. She and her loving husband, Kenneth, recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.
She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Edward and Ruth Eidinger, because her parents died at an early age.
Sharon is a graduate of Lakeland High School class of 1972 and the 1974 class of Scranton State School of Nursing. She was very proud of her nursing profession having worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Carbondale, Visiting Nurse Association and Advocacy Alliance. She treated each patient with upmost respect and sincere attention. Sharon was also an active member of the Scranton State General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Sharon lived a life of selflessness, not only in her professional life, but also as the matriarch of her family. She was always quick to lend a hand and give advice to anyone in need. She cherished cooking for her family, going to church and baking for the holidays. She also enjoyed nature; she was a birdwatcher and planted vegetables and took pictures of all the wildlife that came to her backdoor. Her grandchildren loved swimming at her house, baking with her and making art projects. She was a leader by example and will be remembered for her strength, wisdom and love.
