Robert J. Safko, 68, of Sturges, died peacefully at Marywood Heights Nursing Home, Scranton, on October 29, 2023. His loving wife is Susan Jason Safko. They were married 43 joyous years.
Son of the late, Michael and Clara Santini Safko, he graduated from Valley View High School, Archbald, Class of 1973 and prior to his retirement, he worked as a press operator at Quadrant EPP, Scranton. Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Peckville.
Bob relished playing the drums and was associated with the band “Goldust” in the 1970’s and 80’s. In his younger years, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends. He was a faithful fan of the Minnesota Vikings and wore their colors proudly.
He is survived by his caring daughter, Jacqueline Reuther and husband, Nicholas, Throop; two brothers, Michael, Florida and Ronald, Jessup; a granddaughter, Clara Kay Reuther, which he treasured, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Blessing service will be held Friday, November 3, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home by Reverend Andrew Kurovsky, Celebrant, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. Friends may call prior from 10:00 AM. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bob’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
