Mary McCrone Walsh, 75, of Peckville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. She was the loving wife of Michael F. Walsh, Peckville. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in April.
Born in Scranton, Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Jean McNulty McCrone. She was a graduate from Archbald High School and attended Lackawanna Junior College. Mary worked at the National Bank of Olyphant, International Correspondence Schools, Prudential Financial Retirement Services, and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Parish, Archbald and it's Altar and Rosary Society. Mary enjoyed travelling to places near and far, visiting historical sites, antiquing, and hosting family and friends at her home. She took great pride in all she did both at work and volunteering for her church and community.
Mary is survived by daughters, Katie Kane and husband, Jamie, Archbald, and Mary Brighid Bourke and husband, Tyler, Tacoma, WA; son, Michael and wife, Danielle, Honesdale; brother, Jim McCrone and wife, Ann Marie, Scranton; nephew, Christopher McCrone; niece, Marisa Tillmann; and five adoring grandchildren, John Michael and Meghan Keenan, Emmye May Walsh, and Genevieve and Thomas Bourke.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister; nephew, Paul McCrone, and niece, Lani McCrone.
Mary’s family would like to thank Dr. Sean P. McCall, Dr. Maya Lichtenstein, Dr. Daniel Kazmierski, and the many wonderful nurses and staff of the Gino J. Merli Veteran Center as well as the Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff for their dedicated, compassionate, and excellent care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 6 at 10am at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Viewing, Tuesday from 5-7pm at Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, Archbald. Interment following service at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald.
