Kenneth P. Finley, 58, of Peckville passed into our Lord’s hands at home in the arms of his loving wife, Marie Matala Finley. They were married 34 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Jean Oster Finley and the late Reverend Robert Finley. Ken was a 1980 graduate of Valley View High School and graduated from Luzerne County Community College with a Paramedic certification. He later went on to Lackawanna College through ACT 120 Program and served as a Police Officer in the Blakely and Dickson City Police Departments. In 1990, Ken entered the PA Department of Corrections and retired after 20 years as a Lieutenant where he was well respected by his fellow officers. After retirement from the Commonwealth, he went to work as the Assistant Director of Public Safety at Lackawanna College.
Ken loved our Lord Jesus and was a past member of the Blakely PM Church where he served as Board President and Station Steward. More recently, he attended the North Valley Baptist Church in Mayfield. He was a kind-hearted, affectionate, and gentle man. A great husband and father, he and Marie lived by Proverbs 3:5-6. To Marie, he truly was her best friend, her love, her soulmate, and her life.
