Karen Smargiassi, A resident of Eynon, died Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Julius “Chickie” Smargiassi who died September 7, 2021. They were married 38 years.
Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Theresa M. Toczydlowski Muchal. A graduate of Valley View High School, class of 1970 and from Keystone College and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Before her retirement she was employed as a technician at Lockheed Martin, Archbald. Karen was a faithful member of Christ the King Parish, Archbald.
Karen gained pleasure and peace in her garden and enjoyed the adventurous shopping spree. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life, and would do anything to put a smile on their faces. She treasured all the hugs she received and gave. Karen cherished each moment spent with her family and with her devoted dog, Bruno.
Surviving is a son; Julius J. Smargiassi and wife Courtney, Jessup; daughter; Gina Zory and husband Ron, Blakely; Sisters, Gloria Delicati and husband Paul, Jermyn; Diane Villeneuve, Archbald and Roxanne Kiehart, Carbondale. Grandchildren: Dante and Liliana Smargiassi, Emma and Audrina Zory.
Preceding her in death was a brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Villeneuve.
The funeral will be Tuesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Viewing one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private in St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon.
