Joseph J. Solomon, 85, of Archbald, died Sunday, September 17th at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the husband of Ann Marie Turlip Solomon. The couple was married for 62 years.
Joe was the son of the late Peter and Arlene Zrowka Solomon. He was a graduate from Mayfield High School and was a member of Christ the King Parish, Archbald. Prior to his retirement, he affiliated with Linde Enterprise, Pittston. Joe was a very hard worker and lead a construction crew for many years. He loved reminiscing about work experiences and remained friends with past co-workers.
Joe truly adored gardening and it was where he found peace. He shared more of his vegetables than he kept. He loved connecting to nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, Joe loved spending time his four Shih-Tzus.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his three sons; Gary and wife, Marie, Chenango Bridge, NY; Craig, at home, Dr Brad and wife, Sara, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Brother, Peter and wife, Barbara, Childs; Sister, Joyce Cardamone and husband, John, Henderson, Nev.; Sisters-in-law, Barbara Kelly, Clifford and Frances Turlip, Eynon; three Grandchildren, Carlene, Kevin and Charlotte Solomon, whom he loved very much and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Proceeding him in death was a half-brother, Jack Kelly.
The funeral services will be Monday, September 25th, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Archbald, Christ of King Parish. Inurnment church cemetery. Family will receive condolences at church beginning at 9am. Because of Joe's love of dogs, donations may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. 967 Griffin Pond Rd, Clarks Summit, Pa. 18411, or to the American Heart Association.
