Joseph Paone, Jr. Obituary

Joseph Paul Paone, Jr., 76, of Peckville, passed away peacefully at Regional Hospital of Scranton on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 after an illness. His loving wife is Sharon Duchnowski Paone.  Joyously together for 35 years, they would have celebrated their 13-wedding anniversary on April 23.

Born January 25, 1948, in Scranton, to the late Joseph Paul Paone, Sr. and Ann Marie Marino Paone, he was a graduate of Archbald High School and obtained an Associate Degree in Building and Construction from Johnson School of Technology. As a self-employed Building and Remodeling Contractor, Joe was a master of his trade and took great pride in his accomplishments.

Joe was a faithful member of St. Thomas of Aquinas Church, Christ the King Parish, Archbald. He was a past affiliate of the St. Ubaldo Society, Jessup, where now his son, grandson and granddaughter continue to carry on the tradition of running in the annual race of the Saints. Although Joe no longer actively participates, he cheerfully admires his family as they carried on the local custom.

Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  He never missed the opportunity to support his children and grandchildren, placing their needs above his own.  He was a source of inspiration, instilling values that would shape their future.  He formed many lasting friendships and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed traveling and was ready to leave at a moment's notice. He loved listening to the oldies, especially Elvis.

He is survived by his son, Jeff and wife, Lisa, Eynon; daughter, Gina Monastra and husband, Tony; Archbald and son, Joe and companion, Rachel Vaverchak, Jermyn; eight grandchildren; Christopher Tarmelli; Lucas and Haley Paone; Sophia and Nico Monastra; Karlee and Ryan Vaverchak and Jenna Mancuso;  brothers, John "Jackie" Paone and wife, Patricia, Archbald; James, Archbald; nephews; John Paone and wife, Donna, Old Forge; Gary Paone and wife, Nicole, Olyphant; Lindsay Mack and husband, Dan, Carbondale and Gregory Paone and wife, Alexzandra, Archbald; Brother-in-law, Anthony Duchnowski and wife, Cathy; Dunmore and nephew, Anthony Duchnowski, Roaring Brook, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding in death was a brother, Gary; sister-in-law, Judy Paone; niece, Carol Ann Swingle; nephew, Anthony Paone; and in-laws, Anthony and Josephine Mazzata Duchnowski.
