Jean Lemoncelli Obituary

Jean Lemoncelli, 94, a lifelong resident of Archbald, died peacefully on Saturday, March 26 at River Run Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston.  She was the wife of the late Samuel Lemoncelli, who died on July 5, 2005.

Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. McAndrew Sr. and Mary Mihalko McAndrew.  A graduate of Archbald High School, she also attended Lackawanna Beauty School, Scranton.  Jean was a devoted member of Christ the King Parish, Archbald. Her faith in God was steadfast; she reminded us all that, with trust in God and through the Blessed Virgin Mary, all things are possible.

Jean joyfully taught CCD for 27 years, keeping in touch with many of her former students and continuing to mentor them in faith and service. Prior to her retirement, Jean worked as a cook at Treasure House Daycare, Blakely. She enjoyed preparing special meals for the children, who loving referred to her as “Celli.”  She cherished large, spirited family dinners and lively poker games, and in her earlier years was an avid bowler and captain of her bowling team.  Our “Gram” was a devoted wife to our beloved “Pop” throughout his entire life, and she was particularly unwavering during his illness.

Jean is survived by her dedicated son, John and remarkable wife, Peggy, Archbald; loving daughter, Catherine, Kingston; caring grandson, Mark and wife Nicole, Covington Township; thoughtful granddaughter, Mauri and partner Nick Hilton, Ashburn, Va; great-grandson, Samuel (who shares her love of family gatherings and bowling prowess), and sister-in-law, Rose Marie McAndrew, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were her brothers, Robert, James, Patrick and John McAndrew and sisters, Winifred Bell, Elizabeth Beal, Catherine Carlson and Margaret Sebastianelli.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at River Run Health Care for their dedication and sincere kindness to Jean.  They will be forever grateful.

Services were private, pursuant to Jean’s wishes.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 429 Church Street, Archbald, PA.  Father Stephen Bosomafi was celebrant with Father Andrew Amankwaa con-celebrant.  Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon.
