Obituary

Helen Merrifield, 75, of Archbald died Thursday afternoon at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  She was the loving wife of the late William G. Merrifield who died on September 24, 2010.

 

Born in Peckville, she was a daughter to the late Gerald and Helen O’Dowd Dennis.  Helen attended Archbald High school and was a faithful member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Black Diamond Hose Company, Archbald.  She unselfishly donated many hours by working at numerous fire company dinners. Helen was a wonderful neighbor and caregiver to many.  She cherished good finds at yard sales and enjoyed shopping adventures.  She loved to travel and considered herself as a Snowbird. She had an infectious smile and always made you feel welcomed.

 

Surviving is a caring and loving daughter, Denise Merrifield and fiancé Rob Vail, Scott Township; son, William G. Merrifield, Jr., Archbald; Brothers, Gerald “Biggie” Dennis, Zephyr Hills, Florida; Charles Dennis and wife Elaine, Archbald; Patrick Dennis and wonderful wife Valerie, Archbald; Sisters, Roseann Brozina and husband Francis Hosie, Archbald; Cathy Pitoniak, Zephyr Hills, Florida; Grandchildren, Stefanie Amabile and significant other, Christian Velez, Archbald; Billy Merrifield, Blakely; Mike Merrifield, Archbald; Great-grandchildren, Chloe, Isabella and Michael A. Merrifield, Gerald Anthony Amabile Velez and Christopher Michael Amabile Velez.

 

Preceding her in death were brothers Joseph, William, and Robert Brozina.

 

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced.  Per Helen’s wishes, cremation took place at Maple Hill Crematory at Salem, Archbald.
