Edward Gerek Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the death of Edward M. Gerek, 67, of Archbald who died on Saturday, January 14 at his home.  He was a son of late, Edward and Vera Chaykovsky Gerek.

Born in Peckville, he attended Valley View High School, Class of 1973 and upon graduation enlisted in the US Army. He honorably served his country and returned home to raise a family and be among his life- long friends. He worked at Specialty Records for over 30 years prior to its closure, then became a Bus Driver for Colts until he retired early 2021.  A member of the American Legion, Hricak-McAndew Post #869, Archbald and Shopa-Davey VFW #6082, Peckville, here, Ed enjoyed pleasant and entertaining dialogs with fellow veterans and friends.  He had a zest for life and prized in telling a joke or two with a good punch line.  Ed treasured his children and would never miss the opportunity to watch them at any school program or sport events.  When the warm weather approached, Ed had that smirk, put on his helmet, as he went off riding his motorcycle.  He had a special way to get you to smile and live life to the fullest.   He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure to be in his life.

Surviving are his two sons, Edward and Fiancé, Haley, Philadelphia; Kyle, Blakely; a daughter, Courtney Svec and husband, Thomas, Pittsburgh; brothers, Terrence and wife, Susan, Factoryville; sister, Gail Hammond, Whitehouse Station, NJ; nephew, Eric Hammond.

Preceding in death is a brother, Glenn Gerek who died 2012.
