Donald A. Houser

Donald A. Houser, 88, of Archbald, passed away at Hospice of the Scared Heart, Dunmore after a brief illness. He was the loving husband to Joan Cummings Houser who died on 2/1/2010.

Son of the late Carson and Mary Lascup Houser, he was born and raised in Archbald, graduating from St. Patrick High School, Olyphant in 1953. Prior to his retirement he worked as a Machinist for Cinram, Olyphant. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Church and was honored to serve as an usher for many years.

Donald enjoyed life and living and especially spending time with family.  He was often seen with a rugged cigar in his mouth and had a powerful way of expressing his ideas of what was happening within the community and on the news. He loved to tinker in his garden and proudly shared his harvested vegetables, giving more away than keeping for himself.  Donald will be fondly remembered for the lives he touched.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas and wife, Jeanine, Jermyn; Michael and companion, Lynn Cicero, Jessup; daughter, Mary Kay Eisele and husband, Christopher, Old Forge; a daughter in law, Cindy Houser, Archbald; eleven grandchildren, Christine, Brian, and Amber Houser; Rebecca Schlasta, Scott Wagner, Megan, Christa and Richard Eisele, Heather, Stephanie and Zachary Houser, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his two sons, Donald and Joseph Houser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 12 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald, with Reverend Michael Amo Gyau, Celebrant.  Viewing, Sunday from 5pm to 7pm at Funeral Home.  Interment following service at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald.
