Obituary

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Danielle Louise West, 48, who peacefully departed in the early morning of August 10, 2023 at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by her devoted family.  She fought a valiant battle with illness and leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, strength and cherished moments that will forever echo in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on June 22, 1975, in her cherished hometown of Scranton, she was the beloved daughter to William R. West III and the late Linda Mead.  Her roots ran deep in Scranton, a community she held close to her heart throughout her life.   

Prior to her illness, Danielle found purpose and fulfillment as a dedicated home health aide, offering compassionate care to anyone needing care.  Her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication shone brightly, leaving a lasting impression on the lives of those she served.

Surviving is her son, Shane Lucas and wife, Logan, Scranton; daughter, Paige Ross and life partner, Pascall, Edwardsville; her loving father, William R. West III and stepmother, Maryann, Scranton; three brothers. William West IV, Glendale, AZ, Joseph and Ian Wedlock, Scranton; sister Kristy Karluk and husband, Frank, Dalton; grandchildren, Carter and Camilla Lucas, Carbondale; a nephew, William V, AZ and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will hold Danielle’s memories close in their minds and forever in their hearts.

Preceding in death is her mother, Linda Palmiter Mead who died December 26, 2021.

Private arrangements have been made at the family’s convenience, with caring oversight entrusted to Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, Archbald.  To leave a condolence or message for the family, visit the funeral home website. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Danielle’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation, a reflection of her lifelong commitment to compassionate care and her persistent dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

As we honor Danielle’s memory, let us hold onto the treasured moments we shared and the indelible mark she left on our lives.  May her spirit find eternal tranquility, and may her enduring legacy continue to inspire us all.
