Cheryl Ann Ropoch Runco died Thursday at her parents’ home in Eynon after a battle with cancer.
Born in Peckville, she was a daughter of Bud and Annmarie Chrzan Ropoch. She was a 1980 graduate of Valley View High School. She attended and was a graduate of Lackawanna Vo-Tech with an LPN diploma and then furthered her education and was a graduate of Luzerne County Community College with her RNC degree. She recently retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital.
Sherri was of the Catholic faith and her priorities were her family and friends. Sherri was always there to help whenever needed. As a young volunteer, she rescued a person after falling into the Archbald pothole. Sherri cared for friends and family gladly if they were in need or sick. She was helpful to so many. Sherri was affectionately know by her nephews and niece as "Cioci Sherri" which put a smile on her face and touched her heart. Her fur babies also gave her extreme joy.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Ropoch and wife, Rebecca, Eynon; a sister, Michele Ropoch, Blakely; special aunts, Cioci Tosi Beckage, and Cioci Cathi Butkiewiecz, uncles, niece Abigail Ropoch, nephews Justin Smith, Christopher Smith and fiancee Tori Bigelow , Jacob Ropoch, Alex Petrovich, a great nephew, Declan and cousins. A special thank you to her cousin Renee Jones for always being there to help and care for Sherri.
The funeral will be Monday from the Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St., Archbald, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Blessed Virgin Visitation Church, Dickson City, with Monsignor Patrick J. Pratico, pastor, as celebrant. Interment, private.
There will be a viewing Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
