Marie A. Murphy, 87, of Archbald, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore on Wednesday, January 31. She was the devoted wife of the late, James J. Murphy who died 10/13/2009.
Born in Jessup, Marie was the daughter of the late, James G. and Alice Loftus Kane. She was a graduate from Jessup High School and a faithful member of Christ the King Parish; St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald and it’s Altar and Rosary Society, a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) teacher and participated in the annual church picnic. Her trust in God was unwavering as she guided children in worship and faithful devotion. Prior to retirement, she worked at Weston, Archbald, and was former Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hricak-McAndrew Post 869 American Legion.
Marie is survived by her devoted daughter, Mary Alice Raider and caring husband, Bill, whom she resided with and her two forever-loved grandchildren, Jamie and Jeremy; sisters-in-law, Mabel, Shirley, Helen, Judy, Joan and Margaret Kane; a brother-in-law, Daniel Murphy and wife, Vivian and 54 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Frankie and her 7 brothers, James, John, Joseph, Frank, Gerard, E. Robert, Martin Kane; a sister, Anna Rotell and her deceased beloved in-laws.
Marie was the best mom that ever lived. Her passion in life was only surpassed by the love she had for her family. She never missed any of her daughter’s basketball games, plays, or dance recitals. Marie was a kind, caring and gentile person and in her presence you always felt welcomed. Her smile and quick wit was something to treasure.
The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Dr. Sean McCall and his nurse, Maria, The Visiting Angels and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for allowing Marie to live her last years to her fullest.
