Helen H. Altier, formerly of Archbald, passed just 9 days shy of her 105th birthday at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. She was the loving and devoted wife of Anthony Altier, who died in 1996.
Born in Archbald, she was the cherished daughter to the late George and Catherine Haser Brennan. Helen was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Christ the King Parish, Archbald. She prayed the rosary daily and was religiously devoted to her faith in the Blessed Mother and her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest enjoyment in life. Helen was blessed to have Jack, a loyal son-in-law, who proved to be the basis to her enjoying a fulfilled and long joyous life.
Helen leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, strength and precious family memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing will be a significant void, but her tender manner and sincere kindness will continue to guide and inspire all. She was a woman of great wisdom while having gentle compassion. She always had a warm and radiant smile. You quickly became comfortable in her presence and welcomed.
Surviving are daughters Karen Golaszewski and husband, John, “Jack”, Jermyn and Eileen LaRue and husband, Ron, West Grove, Pa; four grandchildren, Michele Kennedy and husband, Christopher, Dunmore; Jacquelyn Golaszewski, Jermyn; Michael Antognoli and wife, Kerry, Maryland; and Amanda DeStefano and husband, Gino, Archbald; great-grandchildren, Kate Kennedy, Mara and Tripp Antognoli and Carmella and Anthony DeStefano, a sister, Lenore Pelham, Peckville; nieces and nephews

A special appreciation to the staff of Allied Services and their Hospice Unit for allowing Helen to live her last years with dignity. They were angels in disguise and we are indeed grateful.
