Samuel J Potis

Samuel J Potis, of Archbald, passed away Sunday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife of 21 years is the former Sandra M Tutko.

Born Monday, January 03, 1944, in Carbondale, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mildred (Ladyn) Potis. He was a locomotive engineer with D and H Railroad, and a graduate of Ben Franklin High School. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St Thomas Aquinas Church.

Surviving is his son Jerome and wife Katy, Jermyn; brother, John Potis and wife Anne, Florida; sister, Linda and husband Joe O’Connell, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Pat and Joe Sklarosky, Bev and Bob Phillips, Linda and Bill Benedetti, and Anne Tutko; 11 nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, and his beloved companion Max.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Christ the King Parish, St Thomas Aquinas Church, 429 Church Street, Archbald. Family and friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Louis J Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church Street, Archbald. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations being made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, or the St Francis Soup Kitchen.
