Michael J ‘Cheech’ Celano, 57, Archbald, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Saturday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. His beloved wife of 32 years is the former Sally Paulish.
Born Monday, April 11, 1960, in Scranton, he was the son of Lois A (DeVol) Celano, Dunmore, and the late Joseph M Celano. Cheech was a 1978 graduate of Dunmore High School, a member of Christ the King Parish, St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and was a delivery driver for National Bakery. He was a great bowler, having several 300 games and 800 series. Cheech loved cars, especially Corvettes, fishing, and every genre of music.
Cheech is also survived by his daughter Katie and Alan Wright, Archbald; his sister Debbie Englehardt, Throop, his nephew E.J. and Morgan Englehardt, Peckville; mother-in-law Victoria Paulish, Archbald; brother-in-law Dr John and Karyn Paulish, and their daughters Marissa and Megan, Towanda; sister-in-law Vicky Smith and companion Donny, and her daughter Danielle and husband Chris, Blakely; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and his dog Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Jake Paulish, and brother-in-law Ernie Englehardt.
The family wishes to sincerely acknowledge Dr Manahan, the nursing staff of DaVita Dialysis, Childs; and the staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 13, 10:00 a.m., Christ the King Parish, St Thomas Aquinas Church, 429 Church Street, Archbald. Family will receive friends in the church vestibule from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow at St Francis Church Cemetery, Eynon. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Louis J Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church Street, Archbald.
