Joseph Antognoli of Archbald passed away on September 2, 2016, surrounded by his family. Joseph had been married for 61 years to Pauline Wally Antognoli, who passed away in June of 2002. Born December 23, 1919, in the family hotel (now the Hrichak-Mc Andrew American Legion Post in the Riverside section of Archbald,) Joseph was the youngest son of Guissepe and Beatrice Meschini Antognoli.

Joseph attended Archbald High School but left school to work in the family's coal business. Joseph had a remarkable memory and became somewhat of a historian and storyteller regarding the local coal operations in the upper valley.  In spite of Joseph's hearing and vision disabilities, he always managed to find work in the manufacturing sector and rose to become the chief steward in the union plants.

Joseph was an avid hunter and looked forward to November, the start of small game season every year.  He was a member of the Hillview Rod and Gun Club and a proud member of the NRA. Joseph had been proud of passing on his knowledge of wine making to the Lucci gang. Joe would often say,  “They want to make wine in the modern way and not the old Italian way.  Ah, it works". Joseph tasted all the grapes as the skids were unloaded and gave his opinion of the quality of the product, like it or not.

Joseph and Michael would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Heim and the entire staff at the Hematology and Oncology group in Dunmore for their kindness and support, especially keeping the candy jar filled in the Infusion Department.  In addition, we would like to thank Doctors Freda, Rao, Getts, Marsili and their staff for the constant support and kindness over the years. We would also like to thank the staff at MVHC for their dedication and VNA's Home Health and Hospice, for their patience and compassion during the transfer to hospice.

Joseph is survived by his son and caregiver, Michael and wife Lisa, daughter-in-law, Kathy Antognoli, grandchildren, Michele Kennedy and husband Chris, Michael Antognoli Jr. and wife Kerry, Paula Robinson and husband Ray, Joseph Antognoli and wife Cathy and Maria O'Rourke.   Great- great grandchildren Tori Antognoli, Vicky, Nicole and Raymond Robinson, Erin O'Rourke, Mara and Michael Antognoli III and Kate Kennedy and a great-great granddaughter Brooke Lyn Antognoli.
Joseph had been preceded in death by his son, Joseph Jr, great granddaughter, Melissa Antognoli, brothers, Dr. Anthony and  Biaggio, sisters, Mary Rossi, Giovanna Antognoli, Yolanda Paris, Della Curico and Margret Ugguccioni .

Donation can be made in the name of Joseph and the Springer boy, Amos to the Mid Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue ( MAESSR.ORG).
