John Vincent Yaninek, 88, Scott Township, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center, Scranton. His devoted wife of 60 years is the former Constance Ann Maskal.
Born Friday, April 12, 1929 in Jessup, he was the son of the late Vincent and Susan (Hotovy) Yaninek. John was a graduate of St Patrick High School, being very proud to have twelve years of Catholic education, proprietor of his own carpentry business, and employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot until his retirement. They bestowed many awards for employment, upon him. He was a member of the Jessup VFW Post #5544, and Jessup American Legion Post #411. John was a combat veteran of the Korean War Veteran, earning a purple heart. He was also a member of the Corpus Christi Parish, St John Vianney Church, Scott Township.
Surviving is his son John F. and wife Kathleen Yaninek, his beloved grandchildren Zachary, Alexander, and Tatiana; his sister Johanna Trinovitch, Justus, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. John was preceded in death by his brother Paul Yaninek; and his sisters; Irene Luchansky and Susan Antinori.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 10:00 a.m., at Corpus Christi Parish, St John Vianney Church, 704 Montdale Road, Scott Township, with interment to follow at St Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Louis J Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church Street, Archbald.
