John A Rudalavage

John ‘Highway’ Rudalavage, 79, Eynon, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon. His wife of 49 years is the former Mary Ann Yankowski, whom he married October 12, 1968.

Born November 23, 1938, in Eynon, he was the son of the late Peter and Veronica Rudalavage. Growing up, John was a very proud member of Boy Scout Troop 41. He was a 1956 graduate of Blakely High School and co-owner of Highway Auto Parts, established in 1956. John was a lifetime member and past treasurer of the Eynon Volunteer Fire Company. He was a social member of the Eynon VFW post 7963, and American Legion post 328. An avid outdoorsman, John loved to hunt, and attend local dirt track races with his sons and nephews. Sundays were spent, enjoying Polka music and a NASCAR race. With quick wit, he never had anything bad to say about anyone, huh! John loved his town and community, and lived for his grandchildren.

John is also survived by his sons Robert John and wife Dawn Rudalavage, Eynon; and Jason James Rudalavage, Eynon; his grandchildren Mia and Zack; his brothers Conrad and wife Patti, Carbondale; Joseph and wife Judy, Eynon; David, Arlington, Virginia, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

John is preceded in deathy a brother, Kenneth.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m., at the Louis J Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church Street, Archbald. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., Christ the King Parish, St Mary Czestochowa, 417 Main Street, Eynon, with interment to follow at St Francis of Assisi’ Cemetery, Eynon.
