Elda Mary (Mashie) Bio

Elda M Bio, 93, Eynon, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side Tuesday morning, at Green Ridge Health Care Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Carmen J Bio.

Saturday, February 23, 1924 in Eynon, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Mary Rose Mashie. Elda was a graduate of Archbald High School. Before retirement, she was employed by Saslo’s Bridal Factory, and was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the International Ladies Garment Worker’s Union, and Christ the King Parish, St Mary Czestochowa Church, Eynon.

Elda loved playing cards, especially Pinochle and Tripoli, and cooking and entertaining for her family. She excelled at Italian food and cheesebread.

Surviving are her son Sam and wife Barbra Bio, Eynon, and her daughter Donna Bio, Eynon; her beloved granddaughters Marisa and husband Jim Siekierka, and Lyndsay and husband Nick Paone; her great grandsons Jackson, Cooper, and Ryder Siekierka, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Elda was also preceded in death by her brother Sam Mashie, and sisters Diane Fiorelli, and Romayne A Mashie.

The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, Green Ridge Health Care Center, Scranton, Dr Nicholas Dodge, and Dr Rajan Mulloth, for the gentle and compassionate care of their mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Respecting Elda’s request, there will be no viewing but, family will receive friends in the vestibule from 9:30 am, until time of Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Mary Czestochowa Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Eynon. Interment to follow at St Francis d’Assisi Cemetery, Eynon. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St., Archbald.
