Audrey J. Walters, 88, was called home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at home, with her beloved family by her side. She was the wife of the late John C ‘Jack’ Walters who passed away March 11, 2002.
Born Sunday, December 23, 1928 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Griffith and Evelyn Evans Jones. Audrey was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and before retirement, was the Executive Assistant for the Lackawanna County Department of Human Services, and the Administrative Secretary for the Elmhurst Country Club, in which she was also a member. She was also a member of the Irem Temple, Welsh Club, Century Club, and Canoe Club.
She is survived by her son David and Carol Walters, Scranton, her daughter Cyndi and James Colman, Clarks Summit; grandchildren David J and Amanda Walters, Harrisburg, Trent and Ashley E Walters Colan, Houston, Tx, Jaime L Colman and companion Matthew Eldred, Washington D.C., Jonathan and Christine A (Colman) Washatka, Philadelphia; great grandson Mason Walters, Harrisburg; niece Marsha Worthington, nephew Gary Sly, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Audrey was preceded in death by her granddaughter Elizabeth A Colman, and her sister and brother-in-law Thomas and Evelyn J Sly.
The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, At Home Quality Care, Dr Sheela Prahalad, Pastor Mike Measley, and her caregiver’s Jossie, Louise, Shelene, Nammie, and Seth.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 am Saturday, March 04, 2017, until time of service at 11:00 am, at Evangelical Free Bible Church, 431 Carbondale Road, Clarks Summit, Pastor Mike Measley. Inurnment to follow at Washburn Street Cemetery, 1915 Washburn Street, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, Pa. 18411, the Clarks Summit Volunteer Fire Company, 321 Bedford Street, Clarks Summit Pa. 18411, or the Evangelical Free Bible Church’s Mission’s Fund.
